Use the official release as the reference

Release timing can differ across mobile stores and desktop platforms. Treat official stores, getsession.org/download, and the official GitHub releases as authoritative; third-party version pages are not. Linux users should also follow official notices about repository signing-key changes, because an expired or rotated key can interrupt otherwise legitimate updates.

Identity recovery is not full-history sync

Entering the recovery password on a new device can restore the Account ID. It does not turn Session into an unlimited cloud archive. The official FAQ describes retention periods for messages and configuration data, so long-offline devices may not recover every conversation or contact. Plan a device move with that constraint in mind.

Adopt a quiet update routine

Check official release information regularly, enable updates in a trusted store, and remember where desktop installers came from. Before a major upgrade, note the current version and confirm that the recovery password is accessible. When troubleshooting, update to a stable release before reinstalling; old-client behavior is easily mistaken for a network failure.

Get Session from an official source

Before installing, confirm that the download page uses the getsession.org domain.
