Start with reversible checks

Confirm that the client is an official current release. Reconnect the network and verify the device’s date, time, and time zone. Switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data can distinguish a local network problem from a client issue. A firewall test may be useful, but do not permanently weaken device security simply to make one connection work.

Account for regional interference

Some networks or regions may block Session Nodes or related infrastructure. Session’s official guidance suggests trying a reputable VPN and comparing results across connections. A VPN can observe that you connect to the Session Network even though it cannot read end-to-end encrypted messages, so choose a provider with a clear policy and verifiable track record.

Protect identity before reinstalling

Do not uninstall the app or clear its data until the recovery password has been checked in a safe place. Record the client version, time of failure, and network type, then consult official status, blog, and support pages. If reinstallation is necessary, remember that older messages may not return after recovery because network storage has defined retention periods.

Get Session from an official source

Before installing, confirm that the download page uses the getsession.org domain.
